I’m Kassem Abu Khana, a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer with over a decade of experience designing, building, and operating analytics and reporting platforms across complex, data-intensive environments. I am currently based in Germany and hold a valid Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) residence permit, which allows me to work in Germany while seeking long-term employment. My work spans humanitarian operations, telecommunications, and large-scale sports events, where I have consistently delivered production-grade BI solutions that enable data-driven decision-making at scale.

From 2014 to 2025, I worked with UNHCR Lebanon as a Senior Data Management Assistant, owning the end-to-end BI and reporting layer for multiple operational domains. I designed and implemented a Power BI Report Server connected to live production systems, providing centralized, governed analytics and real-time operational visibility. My responsibilities included dimensional data modeling, SQL Server (T-SQL) transformations, development of Power BI semantic models, and delivery of executive and operational dashboards. I ensured data integrity through structured backup processes, data validation, and contributions to disaster-recovery planning. In parallel, I supported IT operations, including Cisco VoIP systems, Linux file servers, and infrastructure troubleshooting.

In parallel, I have been part of the Beirut Marathon Association since 2016 as an Electronic Timing Coordinator, where I lead the BI and data pipeline for race-timing events. I manage MyLaps timing systems, Microsoft SQL Server databases, and analytical logic for split-time analysis, pace calculation, and official result generation, ensuring accurate, high-volume data processing under strict time constraints.

Earlier in my career, I worked as a PHP Web Developer at Diwanee Offshore, contributing to the VIVA Bahrain Telecom web portal. This role strengthened my full-stack development and systems engineering perspective, which continues to inform how I design scalable, maintainable BI solutions today.
